Tournaments 2017 - 2018
ISDS has launched its selection process for Team India. The top speakers from these regional tournaments and workshops will be invited to national selections. Top performers at national selections will receive intensive coaching and form the squad representing India at WSDC and other international tournaments. You must be aged between 14 – 18 and at school when applying.
- The first stage of the selection process is regional. Students compete in teams at any of the tournaments below, and can be selected to progress straight through to the second stage of selections.
- Alternatively, candidates unable to attend a regional tournament can apply through a challenging online process, and if good enough can also go through to second stage.
- The second stage is a one week long selection camp in December ’17 – January ’18 held in Chennai. At this camp, we will select the top TEN debaters to be part of the Team India squad.
- This squad will then undergo intensive training by some of the worlds best debate coaches. From this training, we will select which members go on to represent India at WSDC, and which members will compete in other prestigious international tournaments.
Given this is the chance to represent your country – we recommend each applicant take the selection process seriously. Your school and parents must agree to the time and effort that goes into being part of this process. Be part of the debate movement in India!
