Debating has helped me through law school and assisted me enormously in co-curricular activities like mooting.
World Schools always has a special place in my heart as I had the wonderful privilege to represent my nation while meeting people from countries I had only read about in my childhood. It gave me an opportunity to view the world from a different vantage point and such an experience drastically transforms the way I viewed people, countries and world issues.
I’ve started a small initiative in my college called ‘Mimosa pudica Speaks’ where people are invited to speak out about sexual abuse and eve-teasing instead of letting it become a painful statement suffered in silence. It is in its nascent stage of development, but one thing I’ve learnt after seven years of debating is that if there is a problem, the easiest way to arrive at a solution is structured disagreement and fervent brainstorming, and that’s exactly what I hope this initiative will do.
